I began making jewelry simply as a hobby while I was in graduate school. It was something fun and relaxing to do that took my mind off of daily stress.
I finished my graduate degree about a year ago and received a Masters degree in interior design. I use a lot of what I learned in the fine arts program when designing jewelry. I almost always start with my sketchbook, trying out different ideas before I actually start to make anything. I've come up with so many new ideas this way and it is one of my favorite parts of the design process. I also consider many design principles while creating a piece of jewelry. Everything from symmetry to color combination can make a design special.
I turned my hobby into a part-time job when I moved to North Florida and was able to place my work in several local shops. I frequently get feedback from customers and love to hear…
