About

I grew up in Osmond, Nebraska **yawn**. As the middle child, and black-sheep of the family, I couldn’t wait to get out of there! So I headed South to Fremont, Nebraska **yawn a little bigger** where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art. I dabbled here and there in painting and pottery, but I found out quickly what it really means to be a starving artist! I spent four years working on a dairy farm just outside of Fremont to try and make ends meet. The money was good but man was it torture! I headed South once again and ended up working door-to-door sales in Omaha, Nebraska **biggest yawn of all**. The experience of selling door-to-door is priceless but the money I made was barely enough to make ends meet. With $20 in my pocket, I moved to Kansas City, Missouri. I started working as a supervisor at an amusement park. I was slightly disappointed with myself as I felt with my degree I could be doing so much more. I found a job…

I found a job working as a marketing associate for Spectrum Apartment Search. While there, I discovered that I had a love of technology. I was the go-to person for all troubleshooting issues. I soon became a web champ and was on several committees for setting up and designing the web site for the nationwide company. However, I didn’t have the pleasure of actually coding. So, I went back to school while continuing to work at Spectrum for the next four years. I attended the University of Phoenix Online and obtained a BSIT in September 2004. During my education, I discovered a local campus in Kansas City and applied to work at the school. I was hired as an Academic Counselor but transitioned after two years to Campus System Administrator. During that time, I obtained my A+ and Dell certifications and worked hard to troubleshoot the daily issues that come up at the campus. March of 2006, I was promoted to State IT Manager for Kansas and Nebraska where I supported and managed the technology needs for locations in those states. In December of 2006, I began working for Apollo Group, Inc as the National IT Relations Manager. My duties included coordinating and moderating the National Monthly IT Teleconference (Tech Talk) and creating the monthly IT Newsletter for the Campus Technologies Group (Technologist Times). However, the mountains began to call my name so I accepted the position of Area IT Manager for Colorado & Wyoming and moved the fam to Colorado. During this time, I completed my Master of Information Systems in Management MIS/M degree and am waiting for my husband to complete his BSIT. September 1, I accepted the National IT Training Manager position for Apollo and am looking forward to all of the new challenges that are ahead!

A couple of odds and ends about myself: I was married in October 2002 to the man of my dreams. We have two dogs that are my children (without the talk-back feature). I have pictures and gladly share with anyone that would like to meet them. We like to spend our free time Geocaching (www.geocaching.com) and hiking in the mountains around our new home in Colorado (well, the rental anyway). I am a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and my husband and I intend to continue to spend the fall cheering the team on from Colorado. Our goal in life is to own a bed and breakfast in the mountains of Colorado.
