About the Work

“While others in the art world are still adjusting to Iris prints as a method of
reproduction, Michael Peter Ross has made the quantum leap to creating original
works in this relatively new medium. His background in science has contributed
to his aesthetic--his digital work consists of many layered images in
compositions that would seem chaotic to the untrained eye. The lateral leap,
the unlikely juxtaposition, the moment of satori, the sudden epiphany--these are
the common points between scientific and artistic genius.

Certain motifs recur in the dense tapestry of interwoven images and colors that make up his works. The human face holds a prominent place in Ross’ vocabulary of images, suggesting the predominance of man in the chaos of the universe. But for Ross, it is a beautiful chaos, an overwhelming confusion of color and light, for which the brightness of the medium of giclee become the ideal expression.” Kristin Herndon, Director, Sylvia White New York Gallery.
