Hello, my name is Sandy and I sew, LOTS. I enjoy making things that are utilitarian, to be used and enjoyed. Mainly I sew; bags, quilts, table linens, crafting projects and once in awhile garments or anything else that catches my attention for more then a minute.

I have been an avid sewer for about 18 years, first self teaching, then onto classes. I lucked into some wonderful classes where I was able to sew anything I wanted and learned from my own projects as well as the others in the class. I never really had an interest in anything other then garments and I made lots of clothes for myself from pajamas to gowns.

I had never even considered quilting or any other sewing then garments as I really did enjoy making my own clothes, until I attended a quilt show. I was blown away by the detail, amount of fabrics used and the flexibility that quilting offered. I had always imagined quilting as country and honestly boring, glad I was shown otherwise. I began taking quilting classes and now rarely ever make garments. One great thing about quilts is they always fit - not so with clothing. Quilting has so many possibilities that branching into other sewing from this was a natural progression. I look at all projects as quilts, with body, borders, piecing and quilting elements combining into the items I offer here. I use modern quilting tools and techniques to design and construct my items.

I used to daydream in my cubicle of days filled with sewing and fabric, and would take vacation days just to go home and sew for hours and hours. My apartment at the time was my sewing room (the joy of living alone) and had always wondered if sewing full time would ever be feasible. Now thanks to etsy and days filled with sewing and fabric it almost is my reality. I am thankful and lucky to have a husband who is supportive and encouraging to make this obsessive hobby a full time, and sometimes more then full time way of life. I can still spend hours and hours at the machine.

****What makes my creations so great : )****

I use high quality quilting cottons for my creations, items in my shop are not worked from patterns, instead I use mathematical proportions that make sense - to me : ) as a guide. So some natural variation may exist from bag to bag, depending on if I can find my notebook with my tried and true measurements.

There is a natural progression in size of the items I have in my shop, this comes from desire to use every inch of fabric. Being a quilter, if I can get a 1.5 inch square, I save it. I try to create and plan to get the most of all the fabric I invite into my life. Occasionally these little goodies will find their way into an item and be available.

***General care instructions***
Bags are 100% cotton exterior and lining, and interlined with 100% polyester interfacing.

Spot cleaning is recommended for longest wear of bag. If you need to launder, do so in gentle cycle cold water with a mild detergent. Tumble dry on low just to remove excess water, air dry completely.

Cotton wrinkles, but can be ironed A LOT. The bags are ironed a lot during construction and will bounce back beautifully. Using a spray starch or magic sizing helps add crispness back to the fibers, both can be found in the laundry section at most supermarkets. Iron on high with steam, I find holding a clean hand towel inside the bag and ironing while hold in the air using the towel as the “ironing board”. Turn several times and iron until creases are removed, iron straps on a flat surface. As a last step I will iron the lining by placing iron inside bag and rotating around again next to a flat surface such as an ironing board

******CUSTOM ORDER INFORMATION*****
Update May 2013 - I rarely do custom orders anymore, I am unable to design a new item for you. If it is not something in my current line, or recently sold items it is very unlikely to be something I can do. I can remake many items or make accessories to go with an item seen in my shop, example, make a cosmetic pouch, mirror, etc. to go with a tote.

Reserved listings, these are special orders and requests from etsy members. Sale will only be honored to that individual who made the request. This will be noted in item title and first paragraph within the listing. Should a reserved listing be "accidentally" purchased, sale will be canceled and a refund issued. I try to indicate in listing if fabrics are still available.

*****GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT MY BAGS****

Bags are fully lined, and interfaced, no exposed seams on any bag. All stress points are double and triple stitched this includes handles, and bag corners. Bag exterior has one seam in the back middle, this does not apply to bags with zippers, interior of bag has two side seams, occasionally a bag exterior will have side seams.

Ribbon decorative detail has been sewn onto bag, including bows, which can be re-tied if needed. All ribbon ends are treated with fray-check to avoid raveling.

Bags should be spot clean only, if desperate they can be laundered, gentle and air dried. Iron as necessary.

I try to give as much measurement information as possible, top width are taken from side to side of bag, laid flat. Height is taken from bottom of bag, when sitting to top of bag body. The bottom dimension is given from corner to corner of bag, when sitting. Feel free to convo me if you would like more info, or to inquire if a particular size item will fit, I will happily test, and send pictures.

Any props used are not included as part of the listing, unless stated, they are shown to give a reference in size or usage only.

Interfacing - Interfacing is a stabilizing material used in most sewing applications. I use it in MOST ALL of my bags, totes, pouches, wristlets. I use a heavyweight and medium weight fusible, depending on the project so it provides shape for the bags, most will stand on their own, also provides padding and strengthens the bag as a whole. I also use it in the handles and pockets, again for durability and function it adds to each piece. It is like a felt material or batting like found in quilts, is 100% polyester, can be laundered. Although I fuse to the fabrics to ensure its durability I also stitch it on all sides, to keep it in place.

*****EXTRA STUFF*****

Recycled listings, I only do this in instances where all materials used are identical. All materials, trims, closures are duplicate, this does mean that image placement on the bag may vary slightly.

Gift wrap and cards available upon request, I will do my best to find a match to your need and purchase. I will ship to another address, please convo me or clear directions in notes to seller.
