About Lampverket – this is how it all began

It started in a small cottage in a small village in the mountains of Lapland. Not far from Kebnekaise, but the farther from civilization. There, among reindeer, cloudberries, forestry, farming , mountain streams and farms my mother grew up with her four sisters on 50 - and 60's.

At that time, in the barren environment it was necessary and natural to conserve all resources, nothing would go to waste. The sisters developed a creative and skillfully Lappish crafts and in various markets, they learned the trade. Part of the heritage and culture was conducted over the years on to me.

The idea for Lampverket, or Miss Remaid that company first was called, I got in 2011 during the maternity leave with our second child, when we looked for children lamps to their rooms. I found no lamps that fit so I took matters into my own hands and some old lampshades was dressed with Japanese kids fabric. The result was a pair of very nice ceiling lights as family, but perhaps most of all the children enjoyed very much. That gave me more motivation and I made more lamps, retro lamps and retro children lamps to family and friends. The lights and fabric went on sale at Blocket and Tradera (3838 positive reviews and only three negative !). Demand for childrens lamps was great, it seemed that there were more people who thought that there was something on the market. In the beginning I was looking for lamps and lampshades at flea markets, which I dressed with new fabric. Today, I´m designing my own wire frames that are manufactured by a skilled craftsman here in Sweden . I do all the sewing myself. The fabrics are hand-picked from around the world, I choose those I like myself and those who make me feel happy .
