About

I use a variety of natural gemstone materials, freshwater pearls, sterling silver (chain, wire, and beads) and silver clay to create my jewelry designs. While many of the silver components in my jewelry are purchased supplies, I also create many pieces using silver that I have formed myself into the necessary finishing components, whether it be jump-rings, hooks, or chain links – I also use some wire wrapping techniques and embellishments. I travel around the country seeking materials for use in my designs.

All of my jewelry is created by me and is original in design. I use the materials to inspire my designs. All of my jewelry is created by me and is original in design. I use the materials to inspire my designs. When I purchase materials for use in my designs I am very selective about the materials that I use. I often find that using gemstones that are not perfect creates some of the more interesting pieces; these items are natural stones and nature is not perfect. To me, having some flaws in the natural gemstones creates an interest all its own and provides inspiration for creating a design that is both interesting and beautiful. My jewelry designs can be as simple as stringing some materials together or as intricate as creating a centerpiece from silver clay or using a silver piece as the focal point of a more complicated, inter-woven design. My artistic vision is to create wearable art, pieces that stand out from the crowd and make a bold statement.

I have been creating jewelry since 2001 and Mixed Media Designs is my business. You can also visit my website at mixedmediadesigns.net, check out my blog at http://artandcraftconfidential.blogspot.com/, or follow me on Twitter @MXDMediaDesigns.
