At 16, I scooped ice-cream. At 17, I worked at a sulpher plant, then later as the doughnut maker extraordinaire in the Strathmore Bakery from 5.30am before school started. In the evenings and weekends I was a ski-instructor at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. During university, I worked at the Canada Unemployment Centre and then the Canada Employment Centre. In the succeeding 20 years, I have worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, manager, e-Learning Policy Advisor, in Canada, Japan, Romania, the UK, Bucharest and Tbilisi.

During all of that, I wore another hat.

***Angela quietly slips on her secret creative hat****
Mom taught me to crochet afghans, Mrs. Carbert taught me to sew bridesmaid dresses, Auntie Thelma gave me free reign of the fabric scrap bag to make dolls clothing, Grandma detailed lovely patchwork quilts and hand-stitched Ragetty Ann dolls. My grade 6 school teacher taught me to whittle with wood and a darn sharp carving knife. My love of creation grew.

I'm a Canadian Brit. I was born in Salmon Arm in Canada then lived in Whitecourt, Sherwood Park, Edmonton, Fox Creek, Edmonton again before settling down at the ripe old age of 6 in the quaint town of Rocky Mountain House.

Since leaving Canada in '96, I've lived in 6 countries. I picked up a husband of the superb variety, 4 children, a BEd, an MA, a C&G Silver Jewellery Design L2 Certificate, a C&G Contemporary & Modern Flower Arranging L2 Certificate and a few hobbies and other qualifications along the way. In 2007, I was selected as one of four diamond studies participants in the DTC (Diamond Trading Company formerly known as De Beers) Diamond Course.

I get my design ideas and inspiration from everywhere; museums, clouds, music, the hour before sunset, wood and marble textures, architecture, and textile collections.

I like...
Jewellery design, gold, photography, hand tools, antique keys, silk, The Tate Modern, spices, travel, Margaret Atwood, museums, silk kimonos, V&A textile collection, The Cloud Apprecation Society, precious gems, thunderstorms, Caravaggio, crocheting, The Courtauld Gallery, Anish Kapoor, tea & cakes with friends, coloured enamels, country walks and crystal clear diamonds.
