About

I'm a furniture designer and builder located in Portland, Oregon.

I learned my appreciation for art and craft while watching my dad and uncle build a variety of things; welded steel sculpture, decks, furniture, and even the odd cabin in the woods. I've taken that appreciation in several directions over the years. I've built houses, refinished furniture, made sculpture, and even built faux rock and tree habitats for the local zoo.

I've now turned this creative drive toward running my own business and I'm currently working on the designs for several different lines of furniture.

My inspiration comes from a lot of time spent in the wilds of Oregon, Washington, and Virginia. The stranded driftwood logs along the Pacific Northwest coast and the fire scarred old growth trees of the Cascade mountains have instilled an appreciation for the amazing variety of forms that wood can take. I have also spent a considerable amount of time pouring over contour maps of the various trails and pathways in the backcountry and the look of those maps has definitely influenced the look of some of my work as well.

I hope you will find my work functional, sculptural, as well as something you will appreciate having in your home for years to come.

Thanks,
Dave
