I have been collecting rocks and shells from the beach since I was a little girl. I would sneak buckets of them into my moms car with hopes of creating masterpieces later on. Each rock unique, I knew right away what it would become, once I saw its destiny, it could not be changed. My kids now fill their beach buckets with treasures and their pockets with found objects, each with a new destiny of what they will become.
My rock and shell paintings have gone by a few names "Washed Up", "18 Moods", LLB and "Mood Stones" depending on what I was doing at the time. All of them have been saved from a life at sea and painted by me.
I cannot walk by a beautiful rock or shell without seeing what it could become. The unique texture and shape of a stone or shell sets the challenge to become what I see I my mind. I will never leave a beach empty…
