I started to make jewelry because I saw a pair of earrings in a shop that I loved. I was a student and could no way afford them. They didn't look complicated, though and I decided I could make some like them. Well, of course a spool of wire makes many more than 1 pair of earrings, so all the females in my family (and friends) got earrings for Christmas that year and I was hooked.

I started my parents recycling in the '60s {yes, that means I'm old}. I have been reusing and recycling ever since. I have also, though I didn't have a name for it, been upcycling since then. The things that I make are as likely to have a reused component as a new one.

I did graduate and embark on a career in mental health. I found that working with beads was calming after a stressful day at work…
