About

I grew up around the world, but spent formative years in Portland, Oregon. In college, I studied art and art history but didn't quite know what I wanted to do for a living. Finally, I determined to become an archivist, which brought me to Austin, Texas.

I don't have room in my little apartment for my paints and easel, but the constant grind of graduate school left me longing for a creative outlet. A friend in Portland had taught me to knit a few years back, and after a laborious start I finally got the hang of it and came to love it.

It was an artsy hobby that didn't involve the mess of oil paints. But in Texas, who needs hats and scarves??

Finally it dawned on me that I could knit stuffed animals. After all, I've always loved animals (I even wanted to be a zoologist for a while). I found a few patterns that taught me some handy techniques and in no time I was improvising my own designs. Now, I combine knitted felting with needle felting to make each of my animals completely one-of-a-kind.

I can knit squirrels, penguins, kangaroos, hedgehogs, armadillos, bunnies, hippos, beavers, bats, fish, dinosaurs, and who knows what else. Oh, and finger puppets! I'm always eager for a new challenge.
