About

We are Mike Squared Mosaics.
Custom Mosaics by Two Guys Named Mike.
Mosaic Muralists Mike Juarez and Mike Cody.

Our Mosaics are about visually enhancing personal and public spaces that may be bland and un-inspiring.
We believe our work stimulates a positive mindset and hopefully inspires one's personal goals.
Our Mosaics tell a story via the application of stone, tile, glass, and pottery.
We create our own, “Specialty Tile”, so you won’t see them anywhere else but in our own Mosaic projects.
Our custom tile includes Insects. Birds. Abstracts. Florals, Fauna, and more.
Our custom made tile becomes relevant to each site or location.
Each tile, large and small, is hand cut by Cody and I as well.

Cody and I integrate everything into the Murals including new and vintage pieces. Anything the public perceives as second-hand or throw away may eventually become a part of our Mosaic menu.
We build Mosaics that are focal points.
Our Mosaics spark interest from a distance or up close.
Finding subtle features in our Mosaics is fun for us to design and for the public to enjoy.
Each Mosaic we create also becomes the perfect backdrop for that special photo-op.
When preferred or out of necessity due to extreme weather elements we will not use the vulnerable brightly colored glazed tile but instead install the more durable rock, porcelain, sandstone, flagstone, or granite, into a particular concept and design.
So we don't lose the Mike Squared Mosaics aesthetic we will introduce our own custom created tile within and throughout the rock and stone.
The birds, insects, florals, etc. etc. add eyecatching pops of color to the neutral pallate.
As far as the client we always keep in mind who, where, and why we are creating a Mosaic for a particular site.
We research the history, the residents, culture, environment, and especially the client in portraying who and what they wish to represent. Before each proposal, the history, culture, and environment, are always thoroughly researched by Mike Squared Mosaics for an accurate portrayal of the area.
With all our public projects we invite community involvement and participation to help provide background information of the area as well.
When the opportunity arises we welcome the client and the community to participate in our projects. By donating personal objects into the work, the client and the community will feel a sense of pride seeing their own contributions into a major work of Mosaic Art.
We design and build Mosaics that are functional as well, including Water Features and Seating Areas.
We take pride in building most structures for our Mosaics including benches, fountains, and sculptures. Some public art projects require that we Mosaic existing structures such as walls or benches.
Our largest Public Art Project so far was the RTD West Rail Line Train Station project actually consisted of 20 separate Mosaics combined into one large flowing 220ft. long work of art.
The Mosaic Mural is titled, "The Winds of Change" and it reflects the Eiber neighborhood in Lakewood, Colorado where the train station is located.
This public art project was extremely well received by the community, the staff, and management at RTD. Completed in 2013.
We mortar each piece into each mural to prevent damage from the elements and vandalism.
We select only hi-fired tile for our outdoor public Art projects.
In the event of vandalism a powerwash will do the trick in removing any graffiti although we are pleased to report that none of our Mosaics have ever been the subject of vandalism. We believe that the reason we have never experienced vandalism on any of our public art projects is because graffitti or tagging is usually desired on a blank canvas. Our Mosaics deter graffitti "artists" with our busy colorful tiles.
Since we use a highly durable weather sealant that protects each Mosaic against the elements we are proud to say that our Mosaics are virtually maintenance free.
We're also proud to say that Mike Squared Mosaics, as always, is on time and on budget for every completed project.
