I'm a wife and a mother but I'm also a professional artist with a BFA in Environmental Design and Communication Arts from East Carolina University, a potter, an avid gardener, beginning photographer and all around nature lover.
I was hooked after my first ceramics class in college and took as many classes as I could, then after graduation I started teaching K-12 Art and taught for twelve years before I opened my own pottery shop. Six of those years were spent teaching high-school level Ceramics and Sculpture. I loved being a teacher, but now I am truly living my dream as a professional art potter working from my home in the beautiful Greensboro, NC woods next to a large pond. I can sit at my potter's wheel and watch the two farm ducks swim around in the pond as I throw pots. I feel so very lucky.
I have boundless energy and enthusiasm for ceramic work and a constant need to create. I find inspiration from a variety of sources, from friends and family, the places I've been from Alaska to Venezuela and from all the animals and plants around me that I love so very much.
I try hard to make beautiful and interesting things that are useful and durable with good craftsmanship, attention to design, form and glaze application. I check my shop daily and ship using US Priority Mail usually within 24-48 hours of purchase.
I use only the highest quality clay and glazes. I'm primarily using three types of high fire clays, a red stoneware, a white stoneware and a nice white porcelain. I use a variety of techniques for surface decoration such as, hand-brushed glazing, carved slip designs or sgraffito, underglaze painting, carving or incising and stamping.
All of my work is one of a kind Art Pottery and is lovingly hand made by me from start to finish. Each piece that I make truly is one of my "Mud Babies". A name I borrowed from my favorite famous potter, George Ohr, the "Mad Potter of Biloxi".
My inventory is always growing and changing and new work is being posted regularly so please check back often!
Hope you enjoy my work and happy shopping!
