About

Hello, my name is Grace. I am a mother of 2, a wife, a daughter, and an adventurer. We live with our cats and chickens in a small house close to the ocean with a drought tolerant garden in a quaint little surfers town. When I became pregnant with my first child my husband and I stated that our life and our interest were to continue. Having children changes your life in so many ways, we didn’t feel it should have to change the things we enjoy doing and who we are at our core. And so, as a family we continue to travel, hike, camp, an adventure. I continue to create and sew, though now it is mostly done at night as everyone else sleeps. And just because we have children, does not give us an excuse to throw out our morals because it is so much more convenient. Our children have never eaten meat, we are continually striving to reduce our amount of waste (cloth diapers, cloth napkins, filtered water, etc.), and are always teaching and showing our children and ourselves the beauty and wonder this world holds.

I create and I make because my soul yearns to do so. I need it almost as much as I need air to breathe. I have been sewing since middle school- over 15 years. In 9th grade a girl in class remarked I would grow up to be a fashion designer and I gave her the stink eye as I was then quite an indie punk kid. In 10th grade I started selling crocheted hats at a local coffee shop, and though the products may have changed, I never stopped creating, making, and selling. I attended Memphis College of Art on scholarship and then studied fashion at Palomar College. When making adult clothes I was often told by people that they loved my designs for their children. After having children of mine, I finally started seeing it their way. I guess I have just always been a child at heart. I think my design/style philosophy was best summed up by a client in my sister’s hair salon. The lady made some lovely remarks on my outfit and then asked how I style them. I simply said, “oh I don’t know, I just try and match things” to which she replied, “thats so interesting because I would say you don’t match at all.” I do like to mix different elements and put things together that normally wouldn’t be together. All I know for sure is, I create things I love, and I hope you love them too.
