MullerGlass' Profile

About

Color, Texture, History – these three areas have always fascinated me. Personal adornment, in the form of jewelry, can capture all these elements and be accessible to everyone. This site will offer pieces that I have created or collected.

Glass is used in many of my creations. I’ve been making glass beads for the last 4 years and found this to be a perfect way to combine color and texture into wearable items. I love what glass represents; its strength and fragility, its color, both opaque and transparent and the smooth shapes it can produce. For me, creating glass beads represents joy, spontaneity and discipline. All my lamp work beads are kiln annealed and hand finished to avoid sharp edges.

Color, Texture, History – these three areas have always fascinated me. Personal adornment, in the form of jewelry, can capture all these elements and be accessible to everyone. This site will offer pieces that I have created or collected.

Vintage pieces connect me with the past and with personal histories. The fact that someone once wore and loved a piece of jewelry makes it special. And to be able to take a distressed broach or necklace and give it new life, means that I’m able to pass along a part of history.

Other beading elements are just too wonderful not to work with. Turquoise, Coral and Amber are perfect together and represent the history and tradition of global cultures. Interesting beads, be they handmade, vintage or commercial are combined into unique, attractive adornments.

In addition to glass, I also have a love of vintage textiles. I adore retro graphics and used to collect linens from the 30s and 40, souvenir scarves and pillow shams. While I’m not ready to recycle the tablecloths and tea towels, you will occasionally find a scarf or pillow cover for sale. It’s time to pass some of these treasures along.
