Welcome to My Antarctica
When I was a child, I was never happier than when I was left to my own devices. This was not for a lack of friends or family but more because I found the worlds I created inside my head to be so much more. . . in sync. . . with who I was and what I wanted to be doing. No matter the game or the season, I was always able to create entire worlds within my own experiences and occupy those spaces for days on end.
I've come to see that while this is not all that uncommon in children, it is usually driven out or buried deep within as we grow into our teens and beyond. We are taught, with good reason, to work and play well with others. . . but some, no. . . many. . . take that to mean they should leave their own self created worlds behind.
