About

I am the daughter of a collector. As a child, I was tasked with dusting the many collections in my home. I did everything I could to NOT do that - I even gained a fondness for scrubbing the toilet to get out of it. You see, each flat surface in our home was covered (and I mean COVERED) with a "collection". If you dusted them, you had to move them and if you moved them, they had to be placed back in EXACTLY the same spot. Even recently, I secretly dusted the knick-knacks in my mom's bathroom (yes, she has them in there, too) and she said, "I see someone has dusted the bathroom because nothing was put back in the same spot". I should have just done the toilet and called it good.

These collections have grown to take over an entire 4000 square foot home. My folks now need to downsize due to their health. My mother can't take it all with her. I have spent over a year talking her in to getting rid of her stuff and come very close to calling in Oprah for help. I mean, who needs 12 full sets of dinnerware and 57 copper gelatin molds? She thinks she does. I'm more than happy to see them go. The daughter of a collector has happily become a purger. I like to get rid of stuff - and if I can make her some money while I get rid of it (and find a happy home for it), that's all the better.

I have run an online business for the past 10 years in the scrapbook and photo industries. Now, my business is selling my inheritance so my parents can actually move.
