About

In my earliest childhood memories I always enjoyed drawing and creating. When I was seven a neighbour at our cottage taught me to embroider. I learned the French knot, daisy, stem and back stitches from her. Another neighbour taught me how to machine sew. Under her guidance I made doll clothes which my oldest sister took to work and sold to her co-workers. Soon I was sewing clothes for myself and my friends, including my sister's wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses.

There were gaps in my sewing as other life events took priority; college, university, career, family, but I found that this was the one activity that I returned to time and again. Throughout this time I have accumulated many, many patterns, fabrics and other items. My sister, who also sews, often relieved me of some of my items, and thus the name of my shop.

I hope you will shop here and purchase these previously loved items and add them to your own stash--or use them to make the items that I was unable to get around to doing.

My home is smoke free but I do have a fish, leopard gecko and chihauhau all inherited from my daughter. None of them are for sale as I fell in love with them (well maybe not the fish so much) but they don't get into my sewing stuff. I mention them here just in case that you have allergies to pets and need to know.

I also retired from the corporate world over three years ago. My love of sewing and entrepreneurial spirit took hold several years previous and I began my own retail sewing business called Distinctive Sewing Supplies (www.distinctivesewing.com). That busines takes up much of my studio space and thus the need to destash my personal possessions.
