Kevin Myers' Profile

About

I've been an art teacher for over 25 years, teaching every age group in almost every possible educational setting. Between 1996-2008, I became the primary care-giver for my ailing mother. It was during this period that I developed and began to produce my unique form of fresco painting. Through acceptance into exhibitions and competitions, I was recognized with numerous awards and citations, and received a signature membership in the ISEA (International Society of Experimental Artists). After my mother passed away, I took a year and a half off to travel around the US and EU on a bicycle. After returning to the States, I expanded my art business, which took me to various art festivals around the country. Currently, I am looking for a place to build an art studio/home in Western KY.

It was during this period that I developed and began to produce my unique form of fresco painting. After returning to the States, I expanded my art business, which took me to various art festivals around the country. Currently, I am looking for a place to build an art studio/home in Western KY.

It is my goal to create pieces of art that convey some aspect of beauty and that intrigue and inspire the viewer through various elements of design and composition by means of my NewFresco technique. My purpose is to invite visual, mental, and spiritual interaction on the part of the viewer and, through my art, to ultimately bring glory to God.

Inspiration for my Icon series: These images are stylized renditions of traditional iconographic figures from the Byzantine period. They are not authentic or certified in any way, but represent a springboard into my study of the Spiritual in Art, the sacred being a road marker along the way. Obviously, in the past, I have created a great many pieces that have a supernatural context. So, this is not a beginning but a side trail, which I hope leads me to new discovery.
The images selected for this icon series will be traditional at this point and expand to include personally favorite characters from the scriptures and beyond.
