"In the practical arts and the fine arts, Bricolage (French for "tinkering") is the construction or creation of a work from a diverse range of things that happen to be available, or a work created by such a process."

What's in a name? And if you have to name an etsy shop filled with knitted goods, why talk about soup? I mean, seriously Anne. Get it together.

Well that's an easy answer: I like to cook, and I like to knit. When I like things I like to make connections between them, and I find that I knit like I cook. I take a bit of one recipe, half of another, a tad of common knowledge, and then I look in my fridge and realize that I don't have all the ingredients. Because, really, who has leeks anyways? Well that's an easy answer: I like to cook, and I like to knit. When I like things I like to make connections between them, and I find that I knit like I cook. I take a bit of one recipe, half of another, a tad of common knowledge, and then I look in my fridge and realize that I don't have all the ingredients. Because, really, who has leeks anyways? What do you mean the carrots went bad? And we didn't write garlic salt on the shopping list??? But no matter, we cook on, and let's face it, it's more fun this way. We look at what we have, and we make something wonderful out of that, all the more loved for that little mental stretch it took to get there. And if it doesn't work out, we will try again tomorrow until it does, or we find a better way.

The same concept applies to knitting. I love making things, useful, beautiful things that people will use every day. I like having things around me that have a bit of a story, and individuality about them. I like to see something and say to myself, "I could make a hat out of that." and do it. Like, really do it. Seeing something and making it works gives me a ridiculous amount of joy, and that is why I'm here today. So that's my story. And I'm sticking to it.

Here's to working with you soon,
