About

Some of my first childhood memories are of padding to the bookcase in our living room, pulling out the D and the H book of my Mothers treasured set of The Encyclopedia Brittanica, and laying for hours at a time on the floor studying every name and picture of the dogs and horses listed in those books! At the time I was 3-4 years old and thought that the ultimate dream in life would be to own a Hackney! For whatever reason my little mind found the Hackney pictured there to be the horse of my dreams.
As I type this my 2 Boston Terriers are wrestling over a toy at my feet! We just adopted another stray kitty, Miss Purrrl, after recently losing our beloved 20 year old Siamese to lymphoma....and swearing he would be our last kitty! And my now long gone collection of Breyer horses is replaced by my beloved mares-2 Arabians, 3 Appaloosas and a big ol' sweet Hanoverian-all a part of our little family.

I have been a collector of 'treasures' for many years, a 'skill' learned beside my Mother as she took me to every estate sale, antique shop and good old fashioned church rummage sale she spied. My folks turned an old woodshed into a playhouse for myself and all of the neighborhood kids. Dad built partition walls to form what he called "3 apartments" and he glued the jigsaw puzzles that we all put together onto cardboard and hung them on the walls of each apartment and furnished them with old furniture. Mom put an old steamer trunk in the front of the shed and filled it with rummage sale purchases for us to wear- it was overflowing with the most gorgeous glittery, old ball gowns, high heels and purses you can imagine! I clearly remember her paying a dime for some of those stunning dresses! I am sure many of them would now sell for a pretty penny on Etsy!
But alas, life flies by and I have learned that to continue to collect I must also part with some treasures-so I share them- pass them along to be loved and enjoyed by others for years to come.
Obviously my favorite things are animals....gardening, photography, crafting, all things nature-just to name a few. God has blessed me with so very much-with my precious family, and with so many dear loving genuine friends! I sometimes sit in wonder of it all.
My dislikes...that I cannot help everyone who needs and or cannot afford food or medical attention, inane television or big screen 'entertainment' and advertising, the way too high prices on gluten free necessities, and rude people! On the window sill above my kitchen sink is a little metal frog on a lily pad staring at a dragonfly on a cat tail to remind me of all the summer days I spent as a young girl with my parents on Long Lake, camping, fishing and swimming. And next to that for all who enter my back door to see is a sign that expresses exactly how I feel, 'Be nice, or go away.'
