Kira Nelson's Profile

About

Hello! My name is Kira Nelson. I am a jewelry designer in various mediums, but my specialty is wire work! I am also the proud owner of a beading supply store located in the downtown of Milford, Ct.
I've always had a creative streak, making things in various art forms ever since I can remember. I crochet, and sew, but mostly what I do, because it is my job (lucky me), is making jewelry.
Jewelry making for me started out as a part time job after college, and now I have made it my career. I have successfully been a full-time jewelry designer since the fall of 2007, but have been making and selling my work for many more years. Most of my designs are made with wire (i.e. sterling silver or copper). I live, sleep and dream in my wire designs.

Interesting Facts about my photos: Some of my items are pictured with an "antique" yard stick. It belonged to my grandfather. I have some of his old drafting equipment as well. The yard stick had broken at some point, and was patched together with ancient scotch tape that eventually dried up and fell apart. It is probably as old as I am. Some of my findings are also pictured on antique cutting boards, some of which may have been in my family for 100 years. I will also be featuring very old books and other artifacts as backgrounds in my photographs. Some of them date back to the early 1800's, and some of which are diaries that belonged to my great great grandmother, and great uncles, and so on. I enjoy sharing these images that are part of my family history.
