Kiova Staley's Profile
A daydreaming, west coast girl with roots in the gritty, lawless mountains of Montana. Growing up, my parents published a doll making magazine out of the house. Surrounded by handmade dolls and textiles from every continent, I drank the colors for nourishment and petted the silks for comfort. Fabric still has this affect on me today.
I completed a Theater Arts degree in Costume Construction and Design from SOU, where I submerged myself in garment construction and became fascinated with the social and historical significance embedded in changing fashion trends.
My creative process is fueled by a care-free aesthetic and care-filled values, mainly that my contribution reflects a respect for our resources and planet. Revamping salvaged furniture, clothing and fabrics into useful, custom pieces totally lights me up!…
