Pahz's Profile

About

I'm a mother of three (all grown, all in college) and the spouse of a disabled veteran. Originally, I opened a shop to help us raise funds for our daughter's trip to New York City with the high school orchestra. It was through the suggestion and encouragement of April Winchell (of Regretsy fame) that I opened that shop. And because of that shop, we were able to send our daughter on that trip.

I've opened this shop through the encouragement of my friends who think I should continue to showcase my photography. I've been asked what "Pahz" is- that is how my initials sound when spoken phonetically. When I used to actually do art- draw, paint- I'd sign everything with my initials: "PAS" (my maiden name starts with "H"). So when it came time to choose a name for my photography, Pahz came to mind.

I shoot with a Nikon D5100 and I use Photoshop Elements 11 when necessary. Unless stated in the listing, the photos I sell have not been manipulated in any way. I exclusively shoot RAW, which gives one the ultimate freedom in one's photos. The simplest way to explain it is that it is like having a negative from film. It is a little more complicated than that. A RAW file is un-compressed, unlike a JPEG- which is how your camera's computer processes the RAW information and sets it for you before you ever upload it from the camera. When you shoot RAW, YOU are in control of what the photo looks like as opposed to relying on the camera equipment.

I've been published in the Wisconsin State Masonic Journal, Beloit Daily News, the 2013 calendar of "Sir Maxmillian, the Jousting Earl of Braden", several websites (including the Hanlon-Lees Action Theater, and Bristol Renaissance Faire), and one of my prints is hanging in a Denny's Restaurant in South Beloit, Illinois.

All my photos are professionally printed and will have my signature, the title of the print, and the date on the back.
