Sweeping my crumby kitchen floor this morning I noted that I'm not much of a homemaker in the way of cooking and cleaning. But I AM a home maker in that I love to paint little houses, and embellish my living space with artwork and whimsical flourishes—a swirling line of mosaic here, a turquoise wall there, mismatched knobs on the kitchen cabinets, and hand-painted sunflowers in the front window.

My mom wears neon colors and lives in a neutral/off-white house. I wear black, brown, gray and navy and have walls of every color in my house. To each her own...
