About

I am an artist with a BA in Art. I paint, draw, sculpt and make jewelry in various mediums. I am married and have 4 amazing children. Over the years I have had many jobs, such as florist, antiques dealer, waitress, and substitute teacher trying to help my husband raise our children. None of those occupations seemed to fit. I actually turned down a couple of art opportunities because it would have taken away too much time from my children. In my spare time I continued to make art, sell art, and enter competitions.

I once won a Blue ribbon at my county fair for a drawing I did. The same drawing was banned from another art competition for having nudity in it. It was a very modest drawing of a Mother breast feeding a baby. Apparently my drawing was lumped…

Apparently my drawing was lumped in with a "full monty" male nude a local H.S. student had entered. The students drawing was banned, out of spite, the H.S. art teacher made a "big stink" about it, so the judges decided any and all nudity was banned. A drawing of Christ on the Cross from the waist up was also excluded. They showed the banned work on the local TV news that night much to my surprise.

I have sold art, crafts, and vintage items at shows and in booths in several shops. I even had my own antique shop for short period of time a few yrs. ago. When the economy tanked I closed it. Now that my own children are grown with lives of their own, I'm ready to be the full-time non-starving artist I've always dreamed of being.

I've always been fascinated with science fiction, bygone eras, travel and literature. I love the fashion of the Victorian times, both the clothing and jewelry. I am also fascinated by many historical figures from that time period such as Jules Verne, Thomas Edison, and Edgar Allan Poe. I'm inspired by many of the artist's of the Victorian Era like Renoir, John Singer Sargent and Mary Cassatt. I am a woman of faith. I love God, people, animals, and nature. Those writer's and artist are reflected in my art and in my jewelry as well. My hope is that others will like my work and will support me with patronage and friendship so, that I can realize my dream.
