THANK YOU FOR FINDING PAPER TURTLES - NEW MEXICO/HAITI PARTNERSHIP

Unfortunately, Etsy has closed our shop due to "violation of terms," which remain unspecified despite my repeated inquiries. (Etsy "Integrity Team" has deemed that I was a re-seller of imported manufactured goods (?) and not a collaborative shop.)

You can now find our shop on WePay - https://www.wepay.com/stores/paperturtle

So, my artist friends in Haiti and I are closed down while these shops remain open,

::Who::
Hello, Paper Turtle is the partnership Laura Bruzzese (Albuquerque, NM USA) and Aly Abraham (Port-au-Prince, Haiti). We design paper-mache sculpture that is hand-crafting with recycled materials in a small artisan shop in Port-au-Prince

::Why::
There continues to be tremendous suffering, material need and financial need in Haiti, as well as a need for sustainable jobs. Your purchase helps Aly continue to rebuild after the earthquake, during which he lost artisans, his truck, supplies, and suffered damage to his workshop. Your purchase also provides a much-needed economic infusion into the community and helps continue this collaborative project.

::Recycling::
There is virtually no recycling in Haiti. Because there are very few city dumps, almost all the trash from the upper hills of Port- Au-Prince is washed down to the lower parts, then out to sea by heavy tropical rains. This creates environmental disasters from the capital city all the way to the beach communities and even neighboring islands. We are striving to reduce the environment impact of uncontained trash in Haiti and surrounding waters by using recycled materials to create these traditional artworks.
