About

Welcome to my home away from home! Mi casa su casa. My name is Gail and I live in Sunny (sometimes) Florida, and I am very blessed. I'm originally from Ohio, but I've been in FL since 1994. I still long for the midwestern way of life, the summer, spring and autumn, the friendliness of good folks, the small town atmospheres. However, I digress.

My shop, 'Passed And Pesent Vintage Jewelry and Random Funkery' evolved from my own personal experience of losing my beloved mother in 2010. She 'passed' and left us 'presents'. Lots and lots of antiques and vintage collections. The collection I was most drawn to was her jewelry. I had never really paid it any attention before, but as we were closing down her house, I became enamored with all the beautiful, elegant and the fun and funky pieces she had amassed over many years of 'collecting'.

It's difficult, on…

Lots and lots of antiques and vintage collections. The collection I was most drawn to was her jewelry. It's difficult, on many levels, to sort through your loved one's belongings; something I was certainly not prepared for! I experienced every human emotion - grief to annoyance to pleasure to euphoria. Very mixed feelings over the course of several months of dealing with this massive chore.
My mother had a sharp eye for beautiful things, and I was starting to fall in love with them, the more things I unearthed, the more appreciation I had for her 'collections'. We had always teased her about how much 'stuff 'she had....we went so far as to call her a 'Hoarder'! Well, turns out that's exactly what she was....shock and awe.Wow, Mom! Very impressive! Yikes (gulp).

Nevertheless, I have rescued many beautiful things and will do for her what she didn't (couldn't?) do for herself. I want her lovely posessions to go to new homes where they will, once again, be loved and appreciated, as she did, and as I do now.
I hope you feel my intention to honor and celebrate the things she loved by sharing them with kindred spirit.

I'm not an expert on gems, metals or much of anything really, but I describe my pieces to the best of my knowledge and try to take decent photos so you have as much information as possible to help with your purchasing decisions. Please convo me if you need more clarity on any item.

Thanks for being interested enough to read my little eulogy to my Mom. If you are fortunate enough to still have your Mom with you on this earth, make sure to give her your attention and your hugs. She won't always be there to talk to (although, I talk to my Mom every day!).

I hope you like the things I'm offering. If you love
something you see, you need to remember that I only have one of a piece to go around, so claim it as yours for there won't be another one.

My intent is to sell some things as they are, but some things will be made into collages, assembleges, altered and recycled pieces. It is vintage, so there is a certain amount of patina, character, wear, age..(just like me)...which only adds to its charm and appeal (again, just like me). Minimal cleaning, just enough so you don't get a piece that is yucky. I will not take away from the natural aging of a piece.

 I buy 'MADE IN THE USA' whenever possible. When that is not possible, I buy from the people who Live, Work and Raise their families in the USA. 

In the interest of disclosure, I also have a shop here on Etsy called 'SpiritualiTees' which features hand screen-printed T-shirts with our own designs and positive, uplifting slogans. Ummmm......it's also pretty empty right now, but I should be getting some new stuff in before long (working with Hubby is a long, slow process, if you know what I mean ;-).
Oh man! I neglected to thank The Academy (just kidding). I didn't mention what a rock my husband has been for me. He's encouraged and inspired me, and even bought me a new camera so I can take better pictures of my inventory. I also have two of the best daughters anyone could hope for, and they each have two sons, ranging in age from 1 year to 9 years of age. I really want them to see that I can accomplish something cool and for them to be proud of their Gigi!

Many Blessings,
Gail BP
