About

I live in Michigan and was born into a family full of self-taught shutterbugs. So, I've taken pictures most of my life. I have almost always had a camera since I was small. Back then, I mostly took pictures of my toys, dolls and my little brother.

My photography is about the small details in flowers and nature, the colors of lakes and sand, the delicate hem of a dress, the beat of cities and sidewalks, the world through a vintage camera, following the seasons.

I am inspired by the beach, trees, wildflowers, Northern Michigan, music, books, movies, colors and dusty albums of old snapshots.

I studied fine art and photography at Eastern Michigan University where we processed our own film and worked almost exclusively in the darkroom. Around this time, my dad built me my own darkroom in our basement. Today, I shoot mainly with a digital Pentax K2000 with varied lenses. I also love experimenting with vintage Polaroid and viewfinder cameras. I continue to learn, grow and experiment with technique and style.

I interpret and document the life surrounding me, and in doing this, I create a place for myself within it.
