Cindy Alvarado-Yeary's Profile
Cindy Alvarado was born in Austin, Texas, and her childhood was filled with animals. She began painting and drawing animals as soon as she could hold a pencil, and was especially fascinated by dogs and horses. When Cindy was twelve, she traveled to India with her brother and sisters and her mother, an anthropology professor, where she lived for two years. The amazing variety of wildlife and the the intricate beauty of Indian art was an inspiration to her. After her return to the United States, she completed her first commission for the president of the Racking Horse Association when she was sixteen years old.
Cindy studied art at the University of Texas at Austin, and the realism and emotion in her artwork comes from observation as well as her feeling for animals. Her favorite medium is watercolor, although she also works in pen and ink and graphite. She has exhibited her artwork…
