I grew up in a creative atmosphere. My dad was an artist for our local newspaper, and did freelance art on the side. He was always painting ~ even today the smell of oil paints, or the sound of a brush tapping on the side of a glass jar, transports me back to childhood!

I started with my own creative pursuits at a very young age. I was taught how to draw a perfect circle at age 3. From there, I was always drawing, daydreaming, making collage sculptures, and making up my own stories.

Now as an adult, I am still creating. I can easily lose an entire day pursuing a project ~ painting, sewing, sketching, reading, gardening. I love it all. I see the same artistic spark in my children that has been passed down through generations. Some nights, I am sewing, while my daughter writes up a new chapter in her book and my son is drawing up the characters for her book! It is exciting to think about what they will pursue when they grow up.

I also love the natural world. As a child, my grandmother would teach me the names of birds, and different flowers and plants as we would walk her property. Playtime for me was outdoors~ playing chase with my horses in our pasture, making mud pies, or finding newts or caterpillars to add to my indoor pet collection.

I live in a place where I get to enjoy all seasons. I wouldn't have it any other way. From the calm whites of winter to the brilliant greens of summer growth and greys and blues of a storm rolling in, I find the most beauty in nature itself. There are and have been exceptional artists in our time, but I find the most brilliant artistry is within nature itself.
