I have crocheted since about the age of 10. First learning crochet with fine (doily weight) crochet thread. All of my adult life I have crafted in one form or another and always end up coming back to crochet. I do knit as well when the need arises. So, with many years experience I am confident that I can produce a special Photo Prop for that Precious Newborn.
As a crocheter and knitter my material of choice is of course yarn. There are so many wonderful yarns available to us today. I tend to prefer merino wool for its softness, which is excellent against a new babies tender skin. It is also durable and easy on the hands to work with. I also prefer to work with an aluminum crochet hook, it seems to slide through the yarn quite nicely. Recently have tried the bamboo hooks and enjoy their feel in my hands as well and hope to make use of them more as time goes on…
