Since I was a little girl I have collected charms and tiny objects. The reasons different cultures choose symbols as fetish objects has always been fascinating to me. Some, like coins, are universal and can take on many different meanings to the individual. Celebration, rememberance, comfort, souvenirs... magic.

I am a collector of books, rescue-dog companion, gardener and Etsyveg team member. I have a fine art degree with a concentration in ceramics and art history.

I taught pottery for nine years and at some point realized a lot of my personal art was looking like enormous jewelry and decided to pursue an idea I had that I felt would translate into something wearable and be a lot of fun to make.

Expanded pennies were initially made to incorporate into a series of ceramic pieces in 1998. Since then they have been refined and adapted to function as jewelry componants and have crossed into the realm of tokens and charms.

Still instantly recognizable as familiar coins, altered they become symbolic.

Every coin is carefully selected, cleaned and prepared, then enlarged up to 75% into a flat disk using a unique process. They are then drilled and buffed, gently domed to create a cabochon, and finally recleaned and patinated before assembling into finished one-of-a-kind jewelry.

A true labor of love, I enjoy hearing the stories of what they mean to others and welcome special requests. You can even send your own pennies to me to turn into custom pieces at no additional charge.

"Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things - a chance word, a tap on the shoulder, or a penny dropped on a newsstand - I am tempted to think - there are no little things". Bruce Barton, American Congressman, 1886-1967
