About

Hello, beautiful people of Etsyland. Thanks for clicking on my shop, and for wanting to know a bit about me.

My name is Mimi, I live in picturesque Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada. I am lucky enough to call this place my home of 30 years - with its sprawling mountains, near constant rain and crystal clear lakes. The ocean is within minutes of any given place I might find myself - a blessing, with its salty spray and rocky beaches.

Ever since I was little I loved doing things with my hands. Building, pottery, crayons, twisting wires into bracelets, mixing things up into strange concoctions, knitting, and crocheting. Today, I still can't seem to settle on a hobby. I knit for leisure, crochet for my loved ones, dabble in making bath and beauty products because quite frankly I like to smell good, and especially, jewelry. I used to…

I used to peruse the pages of wonderful Etsy creations and think to myself: hey, I should do this. And behold, I did. And it's helping me keep my sanity between mind numbing slave wage work and the process of turning life's lemons into lemonade.

I dream of one day creating full time. Painting, pottery, soap making, jewelry. All of it. Since I can't seem to settle on one craft, I want to do them all. Aren't I silly? The joys of life are entrenched in the small things we do that make us smile, help us grow and exercise our imaginations, I think. If I had to work every day nine to five and didn't have a craft to feed my spirit with, I'd surely wither away.

I like to encourage everyone to find a craft they enjoy. It can be anything. Doodling, cooking, soldering, building model cars, mixing sweet smelling potions for hair and skin, anything! Start small, get some cheap tools and ingredients from the dollar store, and let your creative juices run amok. Creating something can bring such a simple and pure pleasure upon finishing that it becomes almost an addiction. I am not ashamed to admit that sometimes I look upon a finished product and think wow, where did THAT come from...I had that in me? Cool let's do it AGAIN!

All my crafts are made in my quiet little apartment, they go through a rigorous inspection process by my sweet kitty, miss Bebe Von Fancybottom, who feels the need to paw and bat at everything I leave lying around. If you find a stray kitty hair in your package, know that Bebe has left it there as a silent tribute to the greatness and nobility of kitties everywhere, who remind their owners who's boss each and every day by destroying something or puking somewhere.

Please convo me with questions, comments, or just a sweet hello. I love getting mail of any sort!

Love,
Mimi
