About

Welcome to Perceptions Left. I am an independent, full-time glass artist, painter and business owner living and working in Petaluma, CA. I began Perceptions Left because of my passionate interest in the perceptions left by the art world today. I believe it's important to be aware of the world around us, on both local and global scales.

With me, handmade means HANDmade! Each piece is carefully handcrafted by me in my studio- using my two hands and tools, no molds. Additionally, everything I create is sourced from the highest quality materials with an emphasis on local community vendors, when possible.

What does 'Lampwork' mean? It's a technique used by glass artists where rods of borosilicate (boro) are heated to very high temperatures using a torch (aka 'lamp'). Once the boro begins to melt I gently work the glass into my envisioned design. Each color is carefully chosen for its overall compatability with other colors- we need them to play nicely together since their makeup will change at such high temperatures. To finish, each piece is annealed in my kiln for supreme durability and ensured longevity.

Original lampwork designs: Because of the unique process involved in lampwork art, no two pieces will ever be the same.
