Kathy Perras' Profile

About

My name is Kathy Perras and I live and work in Portland, Oregon. I am lucky enough to make my living creating beads for those who love glass as much as I do. My beads are created in my Portland home studio. Each bead is a true labor of love.

It is my passion to create glass bead designs inspired by nature and it's many organic patterns. After years of creating sculptural work, I have happily settled in the area of organics. Lately, I have found my niche in making European Charm Beads for bracelets, etc. It has become a challenge to create a variety of designs on such a small bead.

For 15 years, I sold my work online and at various national bead shows. Currently, I sell my work on Etsy alone. I have spent more than 27 years creating various forms of glass art including 5 years as an offhand glassblower in Toledo, Ohio at the Toledo Museum of Art…

I have spent more than 27 years creating various forms of glass art including 5 years as an offhand glassblower in Toledo, Ohio at the Toledo Museum of Art.

Over the years I have studied various technique from internationally known beadmakers, glassblowers and glass artists. I taught glass beadmaking for more than 10 years in my studio. I created the Oregon chapter of the ISGB 10 years ago in Portland in which is known as ORBS. I served as President of ORBS for almost 6 years. I was a glass bead designer for Trollbeads, Denmark in 2003 and now specialize in making troll-sized beads for bracelets after years of making beads for jewelry designers and collectors. In 2011, I worked forTrollbeads USA doing beadmaking demos on the West Coast for special events.

I have worked professionally as a glass beadmaker for more than 17 years now and enjoy knowing that I am able to bring a little joy into the lives of others who see or buy my beads. I can't imagine a more fulfilling and enjoyable profession.

Thanks so much for visiting my Etsy store and taking the time to read this profile!
