About

Welcome to my world!

My shop name, Persistent Impulse, fits me well. I am regularly and persistently compelled to create a variety of art, creatures, keepsakes, things. Each is unique. Nearly everything I make is one of a kind and if it isn't, I'll be sure to tell you.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my small store. I have recently begun to solder and have taken to it like duck to water. I am continuing to create wood waifs (see sold items for a photo) which evolve from found pieces of wood, and am bringing to life cloth and paperclay anthropomorphic personalities as well. When I need to supplement my collection of found branches, I use poplar--a fast growing wood that is easy on Earth's resources.

In addition, I've begun some fabric and thread portraits, and could soon be putting up my Soaring Woman collage/mixed media piece for sale. One way or another, I will soon be adding some new pieces to my shop. I may have some more fabric cuffs up for sale soon as well.

You can see some of the behind-the-scenes creativity on my blog: http:\\Persistent Impulse.blogspot.com.

As you can probably tell by some of the older items I'm selling, I also have a love for the vintage and antique.

I am fascinated by textures from rusty found treasures to textiles. I love thorns and velvet! I like fish scales and cicada shells, and the weather-worn, multicolored layers of paint curling from the porous surface of an old abandoned door. And I am fascinated by the juxtaposition of dark and light.

My interests are broad and varied, and I express myself in a variety of media, unable to settle on one form, concept or method. I am always seeking new ways to bring my interests and skills together and my ideas to life, and it is my joy to share these things with you.

Much of what I make (adornments, clothing) grows from my own need to find personal and meaningful ways to dress and express myself in a world that often rings of mass production.

Thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope you stop by again.
