Hello, I am Pia Heise. I founded my fashion and accessories label in 2010 after graduation at school of art and design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle (Saale)/Germany. I studied fashion design, but I decided to create jewelry for people who love alternative jewelry solutions at first.
For this I am using old grandma`s dishes which indeed got broken by accident or I break single pieces out of damaged ones.
It`s funny. Most people ask if the pieces aren`t that sharp to wear them on the ear. Of course I grind down the sharp edges with very fine instruments which is the most exhausting part. So nobody can be hurt!
In Germany these dishes are called "Sammeltassen" (like collectors dishes), because people used to collect only the plate, saucer and cup of a whole collection and gave it to others on holidays as a present.
Nowadays it is not common to do it anymore and the dishes fill - up whole basements.
In case a plate or a rich decorated cup gets broken every owner will almost cry for it if it is also a heirloom or a piece associated with a lots of memories.
This is exactly the idea of my jewelry. I want to pick up the broken pieces which mean sadness for someone and transform them into fine earstuds or chains to let her smile again.
