Welcome to Pigtails and Patches!
The shop began in 2011 when my mom and I started to make clothing for my nieces. We had just heard of Etsy and we thought hey, let’s try this thing. See what happens, make a little money by making cute clothes. We both are very creative and thought why not? I must say we had a wonderful experience with it and what we considered great success. We worked with some amazing customers and enjoyed interacting and creating special items for them. As time went on, life happened and we didn’t have the time to dedicate to our clothing and our customers the way we felt we should and ultimately we put the shop on the back burner.

Over the years that we weren’t selling actively on Etsy, my desire came creeping back. Actually, I don’t think it really ever went away. I think that when you are creative that the “creative bug” ever truly leaves you. I think mine had just been overshadowed by other things and honestly not being true to who I am as a designer was a large part of that. I had gone from a crazy hectic boutique manager job, to a customer service office job. This gave me freedom of nights and weekends. I was finally with “the rest of the world” and now have a “normal” schedule. As I began to sew in my new found free time, the desire to sell again became stronger and stronger.

I really took time to figure out who I was as a designer and what I wanted my shop to be. I figured out that I was comparing myself to other shops and doubting my creativity. I soon realized that hey, just do what you love. Be brave, step out in confidence and know you have a point of view that will draw customers to your shop.

My love for fashion drives me to keep up with current colors, trends and styles. I take what I see in the magazines, on Pinterest, while scrolling my favorite Instagram pages and translate it into styles you child will look adorable with while marrying current fashion trends/style with age appropriateness.

Thank you for allowing me to find myself as a designer, Thank you for letting me start on this new beginning of Pigtails and Patches. I look forward to creating unique pieces and outfits for your little ones. Let's get something started for you!

Blessings and Beautiful Outfits,
Mary Beth
