About

Pixelknit is a small textile design studio in the Historic Kenton neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. It is within view of a 31 foot tall statue of Paul Bunyon, so it is no wonder that Pixelknit designs lean toward the whimsical side of life. Paul has that effect on people.

My name is Angie Hill & I come from a long line of seamstresses. I have been designing clothing & textiles since I was a kid. I studied clothing design in college to hone my skills but it wasn't until I was a vintage clothing dealer that I came across my true calling. While on a buying trip I found an obscure old Japanese machine that was covered in grease & dirt. It was love at first sight.

I cleaned it up to find a lovely metal piece of equipment with many many needles & little pink plastic parts. It was a knitting machine from the early 1960s. The Japanese instructions were not much help but I figured it out anyway. Since then I have been focused on designing knit fabrics & knitwear.

I now have a variety of knitting looms, both vintage & industrial. In addition to my line of custom scarves, I can create a wide variety of custom goods for my clients including -

- Custom garments (sweaters, scarves, beanies, etc)
- Sample garments
- Custom yardage
- Small runs
- Swatch & sample design
- Cut & sew, panel and full fashion knit construction
- Fine, standard, mid & bulky gauge, 3G to 8G range
- Knit technique design & graphing
- Pattern & motif design
- Many fibers available, organic & synthetic fibers including cotton, wool, bamboo, acrylic, & blends.

All knitting is done in house, nothing is sent overseas
