About

Plumeria Papercraft is my leap of faith! After many years of handcrafting notecards and invitations for family and friends, I “leaped” in 2011, launching my online Etsy shop, and since then, I’ve been working toward fulfilling this longtime creative dream and in the process, pursuing a healthier balance between my career, motherhood (the plumeria flower is known as “pua melia” in Hawaii, and Melia is our daughter’s name) and mindful living.

I’ve always loved the pleasant discovery of a letter or notecard tucked in the mailbox or receiving a handwritten sentiment in person. Such thoughtful gestures allow us to pause and feel connected amidst our busy lives. I hope my heartfelt and handmade creations can inspire more of these meaningful connections.

I developed an eye for design from my former career in the fashion industry and my passion for the arts, and I have always been drawn to the aesthetic and personal nature of handcrafted treasures. I sketch my own images, create templates, then carefully trace, cut and assemble each item by hand. Much of my inspiration stems from nature and my love of the sea, and whimsical ideas often pop up from “snapshots” of life’s simple moments as well as our daughter’s imagination. Of course, the paper itself inspires me, too!

In addition to my shop here on Etsy, my notecards and gift tags are also available at the following California locations:
Bella's Studio, Monterey
American Crafts & Jewels, Carmel
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula Gift Shop
The Quail & Olive, Carmel Valley
Pebble Beach Market, The Lodge at Pebble Beach

My work has been featured in the 2012 issue of Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts and on a variety of blogs including an appearance as a guest blogger on author and motivational coach Gail McMeekin’s Creative Success website.

Along with card making and papercrafting, I enjoy creating mixed media collage and dabbling in other art forms. I'm a creative instructor for both adults and children as well as a trained SoulCollage(R) facilitator. I’m also a passionate participant in the healing art program offered by Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula which has been powerfully therapeutic in my personal journey as a blood cancer survivor. I share my healing art exploration and contemplations on creative, mindful living via my blog, www.paperandponder.blogspot.com.
