About

Creating art that is both beautiful and useful is my natural inclination. I grew up in a household that placed a great deal of importance on the beauty and function of decorative art, antique furnishings and the fine craftsmanship that was inherent in them. Creating art that is both beautiful and useful is my natural inclination. I grew up in a household that placed a great deal of importance on the beauty and function of decorative art, antique furnishings and the fine craftsmanship that was inherent in them. This instilled in me an attention to detail, beauty and craftsmanship that has remained a constant in my work.

I received my MFA degree in 2004 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I was the first Nebraska native admitted into the Graduate Ceramics program in over 15 years, a true honor given the fact that the program is considered one of the top 3 in the nation.

Working from my home studio in Eagle, Nebraska, I employ a combination of methods - ancient, traditional, modern and often my own techniques. I create tiles that have the same sense of timelessness, usefulness and beauty as in historic tile-work.

Working in this manner imbues each piece with the 'mark of the hand' and insures that no two tiles are ever identical, giving you a truly creative and unique piece of art.
