JulieandBill Purdum's Profile
We like to explore our rather traditional mediums. Bill works only occasionally at the moment but always in pastel. He enjoys creating very small pieces, 2" X 3". Julie is currently working both large and small, on heavy, rough watercolour paper that Bill sets on fire, don't worry, just the edges. Then Julie paints landscapes, people etc. with mineral watercolours. The burned edge creates an exotic look and unpredictable size. The minerals are never the same from tube to tube so experimentation and happy accidents are constant. This makes the artist try harder to be even more creative, plus, it's fun.
Our work can be found in several galleries in Illinois: DeBrock Galleria,Geneseo; Exhibit A Gallery, Peoria Heights; Vagnhall Gallery, BishopHill; and my nephew's butcher shop...The Carnivore, Oak Park,Illinois; also www.juliepurdum.com
