I started in life with a creative streak that was evidenced by the mess I left in my wake. From coloring books and paint-by-numbers to model airplanes and cars, I always had a project going. In junior high, high school, and college, music became my venue for self-expression and creativity. Once I married and had children, the energy and opportunity to pursue my music have been very hard to come by.
Enter handcrafts! I learned to sew as a child, picked up crocheting in high school and cake decorating as an adult. My oldest daughter is a gifted knitter and her inspiration has encouraged me to pick that up as well. One of my greatest challenges has been to take my cake decorating, a 3-dimensional art form, and translate it into 2-D with the same depth and "feel". Thank goodness I have a stubborn streak that wouldn't let me give up!
