In North Central Washington State, I raise a small flock of Rambouillet, Columbia and mixed breed sheep. I am very proud of them and love them and look forward every morning to bringing them their breakfast. Most of the time they are a delight to be around. I enjoy their distinct personalities and preferences. They grow beautiful fleeces that I spin, knit, crochet, and felt.
Lambing season is my favorite with meeting the new babies and helping the moms when they need it. Watching the lambs play is more fun than any TV show could ever be. They are so full of joy and energy that they just pop around like pop corn. They can be just standing there looking at you and then all of a sudden BOING!!!
Each year my processed fleeces improve in quality and consistency as I make the sacrifices at shearing time to skirt those fleeces. Nearly half of the wool get tossed and only the clean VM free is saved for…
