About

I like to think of my sewing space as my Cotton Cellar – where my extensive collection of fabric and thread is just waiting to be blended into a wonderful new creation – just like a bottle of fine wine. I only work with top quality materials and my customers tell me that my work is recognizable by my precise attention to detail.

After working as a Drafting Technician in the field of Engineering for over 25 years, the precision that was required in my daily work carried over into my hobby of sewing and quilting. I take the extra time and effort to ensure that each step is completed to the best of my ability, and when it’s finished, I know I’m completely satisfied with the end result, and I’m sure you will be too.

I’ve been sewing as long as I can remember and started quilting in the early 1980’s. I seldom work from patterns and the quilts you will see in the Cotton Cellar will usually be one-of-a-kind quilts of my own design, and are totally made by me - with the help of my faithful sewing machine, of course!

I usually start a new quilt by first designing it on the computer, just as if I were starting a new engineering project. My theory is “if I can draw it, then I can sew it” - so my drafting background serves me well.

I have completed close to 20 commissioned quilts for customers over the years, as well as many quilts for family and friends. I also volunteer at Needles Quilt Shop in my home town of Wellsboro PA where I make display quilts, design quilt patterns, cut & package quilt kits, and assist customers. If you have a special request for a quilt, I’d love to discuss it with you.

I try to photograph my items as realistically as possible, but I realize that the items I make are “tactile”, so if you would like to touch before you buy, just contact me and I’d be happy to send you a swatch of a fabric or batting.

If you are concerned about odors and allergies, our home is smoke-free and pet-free.

Please read my policies page for more information about purchasing any of my items.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your visit to my Cotton Cellar. Please feel free to convo me through Etsy, or email me directly at kplumley(at)ptd(dot)net if you have any comments, questions or special requests.
