About

My name is Mary Moorkens, and I design textile jewellery
and cuffs under the name Queen of Cuffs.
I live in Dublin, Ireland.

I love making. I'm happiest when I have a dozen projects on the go.
I enjoy - embroidery and beading and playing with fabric.
I have a great love for antique lace and for textiles that have a history.
They deserve to be re-invented and given a new life.
Edwardian and Victorian style has also been a strong influence in my designing.

I offer a range of styles here on Etsy. Some complex with lots of beading and layers, others simpler with small pieces of embroidered threads on sterling silver stems.

I love making pieces that have special individual meaning for people, such as…

I love making pieces that have special individual meaning for people, such as incorporating family heirloom scraps of fabric.
I am always delighted to hear about custom orders for wedding or special occasions. Just convo me if you want to discuss.

Each piece in my Etsy shop is made with care by me,
and by its nature each is unique.

Back History:
I have always loved textiles.
I graduated from NCAD (National College of Art and Design) in Dublin,
and have worked as a Graphic Designer for many years. (no age telling here!)
However I always managed to keep textiles in my life.
I had wonderful fun designing my own knitwear label “Molly Lamb” and from time to time some themes I worked with became Textile Art collections. These hanging pieces were shown and sold in galleries around Ireland.
I was delighted to reach the final of the Irish Designer of the Year on three different occasions with my knitwear and also won two RDS (Royal Dublin Society) craft award medals and an RDS trophy.

My knitwear designs always had a strong element of embroidery and so I have returned to that with my collection of Cuffs and Jewellery in QueenofCuffs. - I feel I am home again.

I also have an Etsy shop with my husband Liam
- awishforyou (www.awishforyou.etsy.com <http://www.awishforyou.etsy.com> )
It has mixed media Wish gifts including Mini Mosaics
and Wish Dolls - have a look.
