About

I started quilting in 1996 after seeing the movie How To Make An American Quilt with a friend. She had always wanted to learn how. I was skeptical of my ability to use a sewing machine. About

I started quilting in 1996 after seeing the movie How To Make An American Quilt with a friend. She had always wanted to learn how. I was skeptical of my ability to use a sewing machine. We took a beginning quilting class together and from then on I was hooked. I have always loved making things. I am also a knitter, and I make jewelry now and then. I used to embroider and do cross stitch. But quilting has become my passion. There is never enough time. I would describe most of my work as untraditional. I am still learning and experimenting. Most of my work is meant to be hung on the wall, but some could also be used as lap quilts. I am inspired by nature but also by fabric that I find and can't live without. I am also inspired by other quilters, of course. I am opening this store because I can't keep everything I make and I hope that I can find good homes for some of my work. All of my work is made by myself, though I do have someone else do the actual quilting, (the sewing that joins the layers together), on the larger ones, which is a common practice among quilters. I live in Northern California and am happily married. We have 2 dogs.
