Mary Ann Bowden's Profile

About

I have always loved and collected all types of quilts; however, my own quilting journey did not begin in earnest until our family was grown and I retired from office work in Washington, DC. I am fortunate to live in the midst of much inspiration, in a peaceful setting with mountains in view, in Crozet, Virginia, outside Charlottesville.

I clearly fit the description of a 21st century quilter, taking advantage of all the time-saving techniques and tools of the trade now available. While I do enjoy using some traditional patterns, I enjoy creating them with bright, contemporary fabrics. I also enjoy creating patterns and designs of my own. I finish most of my quilts on my long-arm machine, using free-motion quilting techniques.
