Rabbit Hole Production's Profile

About

Hello fellow Etsy artists, crafters and shoppers!

We are a husband and wife artist team in Pensacola, Florida. He’s the extrovert and I’m the introvert. We both have our own styles, but share a love of all things artistic. We would describe ourselves as “An Addams Family tea party with Jane Austin on one side and Doctor Emmet Brown on the other…” slightly off-beat, a touch of spooky and a big splash of humor whenever Shawn can sneak it in.

-How did Rabbit Hole Production(s) come about?—

Well, Shawn’s father was nicknamed, “Rabbit”. He got the name when he was young. Story goes that he was digging a really deep hole out in the yard one day. A passerby came by, and out popped his head from the ground—like a rabbit. When everyone stopped laughing, he became known from then on as “Rabbit”. To…

To honor his late father, we came up with the name, Rabbit Hole Productions.

-Where do we get our inspiration?—

I’m happy to be off by myself wandering through sand dunes or following forest paths with camera in hand. I love both digital arts (photography & painting) and the traditional fine arts. I love old, forgotten things like rusty tools, abandoned bird’s nests, and boxes of old buttons.

Shawn loves telling stories and doodling for hours. Children are drawn to him like magic. He in turn brings out the child in everyone he meets. One of Shawn’s favorite games is to have someone draw a scribbled line which he will then turn into a cartoon character of some kind.

-What is this obsession with Halloween?—

Halloween allows us to get artistically “wild”. We get to do costumes, set design; lighting and prop building, as well come up with cool special effects. For us, it provides the perfect joining of our love of movies (and how they are created) and art. We “raise the coffin lid a little higher…” and make Halloween an art form unto itself.
